The least reliable part of the motorcycle is it's rider. Maintenance is key in the lifespan of any bike, yadiyadi blah blah blah. Of course there are always some motorcycles on which the value engineer had his finger to far up the butt of the product-owner. This can result in some premature failure.

Ducati’s safest option for bike development is to retain one of their two current riders to join Jack. Petrucci’s season dropped off a lot last year but he still had a reasonable championship when you look at the overall standings (if we’re looking at him as a number two rider, which he clearly was to Dovi and arguably would be to Jack.)In my estimation which is worthless but if owning the Ducati gets you 80% of the “experience” then the S gets you an additional 12-15%. The R gets you that extra 5%. Get the S. The 1200R has been the most terrifying machine I’ve risen to date. Absolutely beautiful, fun, fast… but god damn that front tire is spooky.

What has your experience been with Ducati reliability? They told me, "Don't buy a Ducati. Especially don't buy a 4-valve, water cooled Ducati, the valve check and adjustment is a real son-of-a-bi....." But I knew EVERYTHING, so I bought an S4, a 916 powered, water cooled, Monster. I trucked it home, made it about maybe 3 miles, bike died.View community ranking In the Top 1% of largest communities on Reddit. Get the triple, save a few grand, get a sharper machine. Bear in mind if you're going to be putting on a lot of miles, the service and repair costs on the Monster are going to be far higher and they tend to depreciate a lot faster than Triumphs. The v2 is almost as uncomfortable as the v4. The supersport is very comfortable. The v2 and v4 have crazy heat, the v4 gave me blisters through my jeans while I was going 65 on the highway. Still, if youre willing to put up with all the disadvantages and just really wanna ride a panigale, I don't blame, I'm like that.

Ducati are the ones that haven’t won since 2007/Stoner, Pecco is the heir apparent to Rossi and the number 1 guy coming out of VR46, Ducati are the ones that are big ballin’ coming in with the best bike on the grid, there’s tons of pressure for them. The way to make things reliable is the same: minimize part count, ensure maximum quality of parts, and reduce tolerances, etc. But engineering budgets are limited, and Ducati customers don’t go to Ducati looking for a reliable bike. So they put reliability at #2 or #3 at best in terms of what to spend their money on. Interesting bit of trivia.
